LOREN
LEGARDA'S SENATORIAL STYLE
She has gone a long way from her native Malabon, becoming one of Manila's most famous media personalities. She has also created a niche in the heart of the Makati business district, where she continues to nurture her love for the arts. Loren Legarda-Leviste grew up surrounded by works of Manansala, Galicano, Alcuaz, and Legaspi, to name a few. Without a doubt, these artists had a great influence over this young learner who grew up in incorporating their works into her condominium. Added to this picturesque space are the crystals and antiques that she acquired from frequent trips. It is a first class condominium unit embellished with tasteful yet inexpensive accessories and furniture. The place is lived-in, the walls are washed in beige, and the antique furniture glows with genteel air. Her mother's art pieces adorn the walls with subdued flashes of color. Arabesque patterned carpets break the monotony of shiny floors. The predominance of wooden articles - armoirs, tables and benches - enhance the down to earth quality that pervades the living areas. Though Loren considers feng-shui a mere novelty, she had its principle applied, just in case. The condominium was not always this suave. Before she moved in 14 years ago, it was garbed in 70s regalia. Shaggy carpets slunk across its beautiful hardwood floor , gaudy mirrors overwhelmed the walls, funky leather and steel chairs and sofas abounded. All that has changed. Today, the Leviste home exudes straightforward elegance embellished with modern amenities, expressive of Loren's impeccable taste and no-frills lifestyle.
